Current Premier League champions Liverpool were put to sword by an excellent display from Aston Villa as they had to pick the ball from their net 7 times.
A first half hatrick from Olie Watkins and a goal from John McGinn left Liverpool with a mountain to climb as they were led 4-1 at halftime after Mo Salah pulled one back.
The second half produced more goals from Ross Barkley and a brace from Villa skipper Jack Grealish to round up the night at Villa Park.Mo Salah was on target again in the second half but this could only be a consolation for Liverpool after a shambolic display were they lost 7-2 for the first time since 1963.
